The short response is that a little under 1/2 of our incoming class participates in a pre-orientation program and this decision is certainly up to your student and your family. I have had many parents/ families and students tell me that they regret not participating (or supporting their student) in participating in the experience.
We recognize that those last few days will feel incredibly precious and we also acknowledge that many students benefit from getting here a few days early, getting settled and having the opportunity to connect in smaller more meaningful ways than what our general and required Orientation program can reasonably provide.
By the time the rest of the class gets here, many of our pre-orientation participants are already having meals together, figuring out what they like to do for fun and navigating our campus with a sense of comfort.
Again - certainly up to your student and your family to make the final call.
